Notes.CSS

Will there be a a supported and documented way to bring back “red as unread mark” (standard edtion)? I red a lot of postings but nothing official from IBM.

We made some tests with Notes 8 clients and the new mail database. There feedbacks were very postiv but 95 % of the user wanted back red not bold as unread mark. This will be an issue!

I think it acceptable that the default is bold, but there must be an easy way for the user to change it. It this couldn’t be something like themes! It should be a simple checkmark or switch in the mail-/user-properties.

Wolfgang

Subject: Notes theme

We can create other themes which has other look and feel. Here are some other Notes theme:http://www.noteswidgets.com/widgetcatalog.nsf/ba41eb819360187085257384004c8d0f/82ad73f97dba655e862574a6003db984?OpenDocument

To install it, just need to drag the extension.xml to your “My Widget” side bar.

Subject: More informatione

I found the this technote, but:

What means “…and then recreating the .jar file using the Java™ Development Kit (JDK)”.

It is only possible to change it via program files: Users who sharing a pc isn’t a scenario for IBM? What is on a terminal server?

Maybe it isn’t a key feature but …

Subject: You can use Winzip - worked for me

I made my unread “red” by opening and extracting with folders intact the contents of the jar file that contains notes.css. Then I just used notepad to edit black to red (lowercase is important when designating the color). Then I packed it all up again preserving the folder structure as a zip. I simply renamed the new zip file to jar with the same name as the original and put it back. Finally, before starting Notes I deleted platform.xml (found below (data\workspace.…)which is a file that caches the contents of the last notes.css read. This forces a new read of the notes.css file. Everything has been working flawless for several days.
