I have updated Notes Client with “Revision 20090716.2050-FP1 (Release 8.5)”.
Notes Client is very unstable. If i try to pre-view mail that contain certain attachment or it contain certain type of HTML-codes. Then it crash and exit without any error-msg.
Every time i receive mail that cause Notes to crash, then i have to login to DWA and delete this mail or its impossible to start Notes Client.
It also refuse to open any attachment in an external application like PDF-viewer, OpenOffice Writer etc.
The SLED-version (*.rpm) need some serious work. I hear the Ubuntu-version is working perfect. Why not make SLED-version work perfect to?
Client on Ubuntu is pretty stable - IF and ONLY IF - you stick to the supported version, which ia 8.04 LTS, so 1 1/2 year old. If you try to run it on 9.04, you will have problems:
no text on DB icons - still unresolved
attachment won’t launch - this is (partially) solvable. Just run the client from a terminal and watch error message when trying to launch an attachment. You will have to symlink a Gnome desktop library to make it work again.
But again - rather stick to supported platforms. Lots of things seem to be hard-coded within LN client and most likely will not work correctly on newer Linux distributions (e.g. due to library changes within Gnome).
