Notes client hangs on first startup

I’m having a problem with a totally fresh install of Notes on a client computer. After the install I launch the app to run the initial client setup and it hangs at the splash screen. Taskmgr’s End Process wont shut it down, nor will Zapnotes. I have to reboot. Tried un-installing, deleting the notes and notes/data folders and re-installed. Same result.

Any Ideas

Can you confirm the use rights of the windows user that’s installing/running Notes, and the folder locations.Does the desktop have any security policies enforced? Sounds to me like some kind of access control issue in Windows.

Since I had no issues during the install nor un-install/re-install I assume that’s not the problem, but I’ll check it anyway and let you know.

a single user or multiuser install? Check for hte location of your notes.ini file.

Single user install. Notes.ini is located in c:.…\notes folder. Data is in c:.…\notes\data folder.

If it isn’t a user rights issue, which would be my first guess as well, check to see if Google Desktop is installed. It has been causing a lot of problems with Notes 7.
