Will the OpenMic address MAC client install and customization questions?

Subject: Notes icon doesn’t get created during install

I’ve found that if I modify the install path (for instance to c:\lotus\notes) during the installation, that the icon does not get installed. If I look at the icon using Installshield, the icon is labelled as Basic and even has the -SA arguement, I find this strange for a Full client install. The workaround I’ve been using, is to create a new icon (called Notes 8.5) during the install, the new icon is created during the install and works fine.

Subject: Notes.ini "Ports= "line

Since Notes 5.x or so, the install no longer asks what ports you want installed for the Notes client, it seems to just enable all the ports it finds active. We’ve tired a lot of different tricks to get the ports= line to just say TCPIP, but we’d had no luck. It would be our preference to not use vbscript or other 3rd party tools to do this. All these ports active but not accessiable can really slow down Notes during lots of differnet tasks.

Subject: Please insert the disk

Another thing I’ve noticed when creating a Standard Install kit, if we burn the install to a CD and then run the batch file, after a number of minutes the message ‘Please insert the disk’ appears. The install works fine if you run it from a file share or from local.

Subject: Please insert the disk

Did you find out the cause of the problem and a fix for it? I checked “Customizing the Notes Install Kit Open Mic June 24, 2009” but didn’t see your question nor an answer. I’m having the same issue…

Subject: install shared plugins

If the user has no write permission to the program directory, how is it possible to install shared plugins?

Subject: set user preferences settings automaticaly

Is it possible to set some user preferences settings automaticaly without domino policy?Sametime use the file plugin_customization.ini, is there a solution for Lotus Notes userpreferences settings?

Subject: usage of existing notes.ini

I’ve been playing with Smart Upgrade and LN client kit customization, alright. Everything worked fine apart form the fact that every time smart upgrade was lauched it created its own notes.ini, intead of using already existing (saved on non standard location i.e. user’s home drive on a net share). Creation of a new notes.ini forces to configure LN client after completed instalation at the first attempt to start. That smashes up the whole concept of silent installaton.

My question is:

would it be possible to cutomise LN client installation kit to not to create a new notes.ini file but use the one which was already in use? (Please note that in our environment it is always the same path P:\Lotus\notes.ini)

LD 7.0.4; LN(6.5-7-8.5)
