Notes Client 10 connects to ISP IMAP Server but fails to download mail

I started a topic yesterday, but it got a bit convoluted as that problem seems to have reversed itself.

Yesterday I noticed that Notes was failing to download messages and after checking found there were some pending on the ISP server.

Messed around with the settings and it then returned an SSL invalid certificate error (the subject of the prior post). It now connects again, but still fails to download. Get to 84% and when it would normally show 'downloading x of x' it goes straight to 0 received.

What I have done to so far to try and correct this.

1. Created a new location document

2. Created two new account documents (for IMAP and SMTP)

3. Compacted the mail file then closed Notes, reopened it so that it ran a

consistency check on it

4. Tried running nFixup locally but got 'This database has local access protection (encrypted) and you are not authorized to access it' - having said that if it passed a consistency check I would imagine that a corrupted DB is not the problem.

5. Deleted or moved messages from the ISP server.

I have noticed that a new DB has suddenly appeared named after the original IMAP Account Document and of the type 'IMAP Server Proxy', but throws this error if I attempt to open it.

Now at something of a loss.

I'm thinking if it's connecting then the Basics and Advanced settings in the new Account Document must be OK?

If anyone has come across this before, or knows a method to debug it I'd appreciate all the help I can get.

Thanks

=================UPDATE EDIT==================

By setting 'Start replication from last seen unique identifier' from the 'Advanced' tab of the Account Document from 'Yes' to 'No' it does work (but of course is very, very slow).

How do I now get it to re-synch so that life as we know it can return to normal?

Hello.

If "SSL invalid certificate" error is returned, this error needs to be resolved firstly.
Try the following operation.

1. Get the root certificate from the imap server.

2. Open names.nsf on local

3. Go to [detail - certificate] view.

4. [Action - import internet certificate] and import the root certificate.

5. Open the certificate document.

6. [Action - Create cross certificate] and create a cross certificate between the root certificate and the uesr.

Hi Shigemitsu

Thanks for your reply.

Turns out that 'SSL Invalid Certificate' was something of a red herring and the problem seemed to be, however odd, related to the size of the mail DB even though it was only 25% the max size. Perhaps Domino handles large sizes better than direct to internet with Notes Client?

I decided to archive the DB, reducing the number of documents from 170k to 60k - then checked 'start replication from last known identifier' again.

Since then, it's worked flawlessly.

Hello

I understand that it was not a certificate issue.
Notes/Domino supports up to 256GB if the database ODS is 53 or higher.

There may be other restrictions (or defect) when used with IMAP. I apologize for not being able to find the cause of the problem.

Hi Shigemitsu

I have just checked and the ODS for this DB is 43. Bear in mind that it's been upgraded since we first started to use Notes in 1989 where it was originally deployed on Netware until around 1996, when NT Server 4.0 came out - so it's possible that at some stage the templates were not updated.

Thank you for taking the time to look into this - it was an oddball issue
