Is there somebody else running Notes client 8.0.2 Basic under Microsoft Terminal Server 2003 SP2?
It runs quite well, but there are problems with printing on the standard printer occasionally. The print job just vanishes, no spool file is created, no tray icon, nothing.
-
Printing on other printers (not the standard printer) works.
-
The error occurs quite randomly. Once, twice a day while hundreds of users work in this environment.
-
It seems, there is no rule, which users have this problem. It can affect everybody.
-
It helps to remove and recreate the printer, but the error may occur (days) later, again.
-
The problem is only in the Notes client. Other applications can always print on the standard printer.
-
Logging off and on doesn’t help.
-
Sometimes, but not always, it helps to wait one or two hours or to change the printer settings in Notes.
-
More than one print server, more than one printer, more than one printer manufacturer, more than one printer driver are affected.
-
All users print on shared printers and using print servers. No local printers installed.
-
Most documents are emails, but other documents, other applications are affected, too.
-
Thin clients from VXL are used (with Linux or Windows XP embedded).
-
The print servers are used by Terminal Server sessions as well as by “fat clients”. There are no problems with Notes 8 Basic running on a dedicated Windows XP machine.
-
Separate servers for Terminal Services and Printing.
-
No group policies are in place controlling the printing. The users get there settings by a logon script.
Has anybody any ideas? Does this configuration work for somebody without problems?
Thank you in advance,
Thomas
