The 8.0.1 release notes (http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/notesmacforum.nsf/Customer/424f9fb98870e5ec852573d400716420?OpenDocument) say that “Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger will not be supported”.
Are there no other solutions or workarounds?
Does anybody knows the background for this limitation? What’s the differences between the java implementation in Tiger & Leopard?

The current Notes beta links to a Leopard only binary. You may watch that error on your Tiger console.
The Java implementations are no different.
