After OS crash (sometimes just after restarting the client) Notes launches the splash screen but then terminates, without starting the Notes client. Restrting the computer and deleteing cache.ndk, renaming bookmark & desktop file and also deleting the desktop folder and all notes related files in Windows temp folder does not solve the issue.
Running Notes client setup does not help either. I have to uninstall the Notes client and run new installation to make it work.
It seems like there is a setting somewhere outside the Notes environment stopping the client to start up - and I can’t figure out where? HELP!!
Any suggestions?
How can I troubleshoot and find out why/where Notes client startup fails?
I had the exact same problem. Switching to basic mode allowed me to start the client, but after switching back to standard mode the client still did not come up (seemed to crash at the end of the splash screen).
I just had this very same thing happen to a laptop running 8.5.3. Win 7 blue screened and then Notes would not start as standard client even after uninstall - reboot - reinstall.Tried launching basic client and that worked OK so figured it was an Eclipse based problem. Found this thread and deleted data\workspace directory - working OK now.
Hi,I have the same problems, and I red this thread and so I deleted only .metadata from workspace. That helps for me. I made a copy from my .metadata from my good state of client and when the client crashes I just delete the wrong one and copy the backup into their place.
I made a copy because in the .metadata are some pointer to my installed and much liked Teamstudio tools and I have lost they.
Thanks for the tip, but it would help to identify which .ini file you are referring to. I searched about 30 files and did not see the setting you’re referring to.
