Notes 8.0.2 on Fedora 9

Having a problem getting the new 8.0.2 client to run on Fedora 9 linux. I know that Fedora is not a supported OS but I was wondering if anyone has tried it or had any success. The first time I run the program, it had me go through the config to connect to my Domino server, no problems there. When I went to open my mail though, the app crashed with a message of JVM terminated. Exit code=160. For what it’s worth, the 8.5 beta works ok most of the time - I just wanted to try out the newest supported release. Also just to muddy things more, the version of Symphony that is included with 8.0.2 works fine.

Any ideas?

I am seeing the same problem on RHEL 5.2

Notes is “not supported” on RHEL 5.2, so if you apply updates on a RHEL 5.1 install, it will break Notes. I’ve tested this after a long call to IBM support.

Also SELinux is supposed to be disabled during install AND 64-bit OSes are not supported.

I have not yet been able to trace down which update(s) from 5.1 to 5.2 are the culprits.

It is my humble opinion that IBM needs to keep up with their supported operating system’s patches.
