Notes 10 client - what happened to Linux and Mac clients?

Hi,

I have installed the Notes 10 client on Windows and I must say it seems like a downgrade: built-in viewers removed, 1-2-3 import filters removed but no replacement (Excel filters would be appreciated). Also: will there be no MAC or Linux clients?

Regards,

Kenneth

G’Day Kenneth

I have to say I’m jealous that you have been able to ‘evaluate’ the Dom/Notes X install.

Can I be rude & ask if you are on the Beta program ?

I’m in South Oz & we have not been able to get a Beta copy ‘Yet’ !!!

Thanks for the heads up

Subject: Enabling 1-2-3 import

Thanks Lars!

Yes, the option to import 1-2-3 files into a view came back after adding adding the option into notes.ini.

Subject: Feeling the same…

Although the ‘cool’ background feature is OK, it dramatically increases the size of your chicklets, reducing the workspace screen real estate.
I manage a huge volume of databases across several customers, and hate to scroll to find a database icon on my workspace tabs (and I’ve run out of tabs).

It’s OK though - You can disable the dynamic background by simply enabling the ‘textured workspace’.

I wonder why the native viewers were removed? I noticed that as well, and thought I had done something wrong during the upgrade!

I was sure that I heard somewhere that there were going to be Excel filters added - Perhaps that’s still to come (like Nomad)?!

Hi there,

well as we have subscription on Domino/Notes, I am running the released 10.0 version. However on the native Notes client side, I can’t see anything that justifies the jump in version number.

I will need to keep a 9.0.1 client handy to be able to continue my workflow…

Subject: 1-2-3 import can be enabled!

1-2-3 import can be enabled with the notes.ini setting
IncludeOldFileTypes=1

Hope this helps!

Please report if it works, I don’t have any samples to test with…

Kind regards,

Lars
