Not authorized to use new server i created

Hi, I hope that you can help me on this. I registered a new server in out domain(not clustered) and when I try to accesss through the notes administrator, I get a Server Error: you are not authorized to use the server. This is the second time I have registered the server, I deleted the first one and tried again, and have made sure that the connections document entries were the same as out other servers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It’s also listed in the localdomainservers group. I’m at a loss, I’m fairly new at this and have set up only one other notes 6.02 server on Win2003 server and had problems with that one too.

Thanks for your help, I was fooling around and it’s working now, don’t ask me what I did though.

Make sure you are listed as an Admin in the server doc. If you have to add yourself, replicate the changes to the new server then bounce it. You have to be authorized to the new server through the server doc in the pub addr book before you can have access to it.

Yes I made sure that when I registered it, administrator/“domain” was the administrator, and administrator/"domian and additional administrators are listed in the security tab and the adninistration tab.

Well, if you’re listed in the server configuration document, under the security tab, in the “administrator” field then you’ve done it correctly.

Are you using listing group or are you listing that administrator/domain as an individual? If you’re using a group, just verify that the ID you’re accessing the server with is correct. If you’ve got an existing server in your domain, just copy what you’ve got in the security section. If that server is acceptably locked down you can just use that. Copy and past can’t miss.

I would double check a couple of things though - make sure the new server is in the localdomainservers group, or whatever group is appropriate to give that server access to the address book. Check to see if the changes are on that server and not just on one of your existing servers. The new server has to have access to the address book to pick up the changes.

check to be sure there isn’t a replication save conflict on that server. Sometimes you’ll get caught by the server updating the configuration document at the same time you do and your changes wind up in the conflict document.

Once you’ve changed any of that, restarting never hurts.

I am using administrator/domain as a user in owner and administrator/domain, additional administrators and localdomainservers in the administrators. I am part of the additional administrators. I checked the notes.ini and all the groups are the same as our other servers. I copied the names.nsf from our main notes server and transfered it to the new seerver with no luck.

OK. You are using the administrator/domain ID and that’s a part of the various groups?

I’m just a little lost following your access thread.

How does your security configuration look on that new server? Would you be willing to strip out the person documents and irrelevant groups, etc in a copy of your NAB and send it to me? Might help to look at it…
