Nomad for Web Com Helper

Based on the Limitations page. it appears that the COM Helper extension is only intended to work with Nomad Web in Chrome. Can anyone plse confirm if it can be made to work with a Domino application?

Thx in advance

I'm not sure what you mean by "made to work with a Domino application", but let me give you some more details and let you see if that helps or not.

Because it uses a browser extension, the extension must be specific to the browser (Chrome, Edge and Firefox). Right now, we (HCL) have only made it through the process of getting it approved by Google for Chrome. We are still working on Edge (Microsoft has their own processes to get through); this should be close to getting done but you never know when 3rd party process are involved. Firefox is a different architecture and isn't really in the works (code not done yet). Hence, Limitations says Chrome only for now.

If the Domino application is running in a COM supported browser (Chrome only at this point; Edge hopefully coming soon) with the extension installed and the browser is running on a COM supported OS (Windows only), the COM calls should work as documented.

That is excellent feedback, Bob. By "made to work with a Domino application", I figured that there may be a little jerry-rigging required.

We really only care about Chrome in the long run... it's what all our Clients use. But right now, our Inspection system only runs in "Edge in IE Mode"Edge so I'll look forward to it working in Edge.

If there is an "Edge Beta" program, similar to the "Nomad Web Com Helper Beta", I'd be happy to sign up to help your developers test it. Is there someone I can reach out to look into that?

Thx

Paul

The difference between Chrome and Edge is just about the packaging (how you get the browser to install/manage the extension, etc.) - the code underneath is essentially the same. Therefore, we don't plan to run an "Edge beta" as we will just ship Edge as GA once the extension packaging/legal stuff is resolved.
