No icon for file attachment

I have a user that can attach a file but there is no icon for the attachment in the body of the message just a blank box.

The attachment can be sent, opened, viewed and saved but there is no icon in the body of the message. What could cause this.

Check their Windoze display preferences. In some (all?) versions of Notes, a colour depth higher than 16-bit results in this.

The icon is supplied by the user’s OS. It corresponds to the application that user uses by default to edit attachments of that type.

I should add that the user can see a icon when they recivie a file attachment. It is only when they attach a file that there is no icon. I never saw this befor.
