No Focus in the new memo window

Hi…

Have anyone come across the following issue?

If so, please help me.

When a user is trying to fillup fields(To or CC) of the new memo from the web mail, the focus of cursor lost for certain actions and can be retrived only after clicking on UNDO button available in the new memo window.

This is happening only on IE7 browser and working fine in Mozilla of the user machine and also working fine in IE7 on another machine.

Thanks

John.

Subject: Re: DWA issue

Hi John,

I am assuming that you are using Domino Web Access/iNotes and not the plain “Webmail” Interace.

If it is working without issue on another machine, and does work in Mozilla on the user’s, then the issue is - of course - specific to IE7 on that PC. When using DWA in Internet Explorer, the ActiveX is used. ActiveX is not used in Firefox. So, I can think of two things to try:

  1. On the user’s PC, go to “C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files” and look for the file named “Domino Web Access 8 Contol” (For DWA 7, the file is named “Domino Web Access 7 Control”, and for DWA 6/iNotes 6, the file is named "iNotes6 Class.

1a) Check what the “Status” of this file is. If it is “Damaged” or “Installed”

1b) Ensure that your Internet Explorer browsers are closed.

1c) Delete this DWA Control File (Do not worry, it will be recreated upon logging back into DWA)

1d) Log back into DWA and, when prompted, redownload the DWA ActiveX Control File. NOTE: If you have a pop-up blocker, it may block this Download prompt, so be sure to watch the Address Bar for a notification of a pop-up being blocked, then right-click the prompt and allow it.

  1. If that doesn’t work, try using the Webmail interface in Internet Explorer. To do this, go to the user’s PC and type in the URL to the user’s mail file, BUT, prior to hitting enter, append ?OpenDatabase&ui=webmail to the URL. So, for example:

www.servername.com/mail/JDoes.nsf?OpenDatabase&ui=webmail

2a) If the issue reproduces in this Webmail Interface, you may want to contact support for assistance in troubleshooting/debugging the issue.

  1. The only other option I can suggest is to try to reinstall Internet Explorer 7. I have heard of a few kinks with IE7 and DWA.

I hope this helps John!

-Bob
