I am trying to register a non Lotus Notes user in Domino. I choose Other Internet as their mail system, but when I try to register I always get the error “No certifier or certifier name was specified”. Is there something I can do to get around this message?
Subject: What do you mean by register?
Register typically means creating a Notes ID at the same time a person document is created. If you just want to add a new person to the Domino directory without creating a Notes ID you would just create a person document and fill in the appropriate fields manually.
Subject: Register
I knew we could add users that way, I had also found in the Administration Help database how to register a non Notes user. Since we often have multiple users that need to be added, we were looking for a less time consuming way to do it. But, if registration is always going to create a Notes ID, it definitely defeats our purpose. Thanks for the help.
Subject: Notes ID is controllable
You can turn off the option to create a Notes ID on the basics pane. However, some “Mail Systems” require a notes ID (i.e. Lotus Notes) while others do not. Even if you turn off create Notes ID option you must pick an organization (certifier) as creating flat names is no longer supported. The organization (certifier) can be picked on the ID Info pane (even though you are not creating an ID).
