No access to an encrypted database

This is a server on win XP. I made several copies of a database that has encryption then I upgraded to 8.5 Domino Enterprise. Now I can’t get into it. The error says “This database has local access protection (encrypted) and you are not authorized to access it.” I have tried it from the backup folder and from the data directory and get the same every time. Is there a way to get into it? Do I have to backlevel, change the security/permissions, then go back to 8.5? I have a lot of hours on this one and it’s to become active in about a month.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: You need the ID it was encrypted with

You need the ID and password that was used to encrypt the database. Once you have that you can log into it. If you need to use on a different ID at that point pull a new replica or copy without encryption.

There is no other way to get into it.

Subject: Thank you!

I used an administrator ID file from a back up. At some point the word encrypted disappeared and I didn’t notice because it was still saying it was protected. In the end one of my back-up drives is changing file attributes on me so I had to fix that too.

Thanks again
