Nlsxbe.dll failed to register

Hello everybody,

I am receiving the following err msg when installing the “Designer Client” . This is the first time, I have seen this msg. According to IBM, this issue should have been fixed in version 6.5.1.

IBM says:

The Notes 6.x Client installer does not correctly register the Nlsxbe.dll file, which can affect the running of COM toolkit based applications. In cases where the 6.x installation was to the same directory as previously used for Notes 5.x the previous registration for the Nlsxbe.dll will be sufficient to avoid any issues. If a new directory was used or this was a new installation then the issue will occur.

This issue was reported to Lotus Software Quality Engineering, and was fixed in Notes 6.0.3 and 6.5.1.

Seems like IBM never fixed this issues, or atleast in the “Designer Client” installation.

Anyone else ran into this issue? I need some help quickly. We are planninig to go live with this verion soon.

I don’t wanna mess with mess with the registry setting. especially since IBM supposedly fixed this issue.

Thanks.

Are you seeing it on multiple machines or just one? What OS are you seeing the message on?

Did you try running “regsvr32 nlsxbe.dll”? Do you get the same error message?

I know the issue reference in the SPR was fixed (even in the All Clients install kits), you are probably running into a similar but different issue.

Hello Jeff,

I haven’t tried running “regsvr32 nlsxbe.dll” . So I m not sure if that will fix the problem. I have to deploy this client on several thousand machines. Even if only 5 percent of the machines run into this issues, it is NOT feasible to manually run this cmd on all those computer.

The issues happens on Win 2000.

Thanks.
