New password synch only from Notes to NT

I installed Notes 6.0 with single logon service. The password sync from Notes to NT works fine, but the sync from NT to Notes doesn’t work.

Any ideas?

Subject: Seems to depend on how you change the Windows PW…

There are a couple of ways to change your Windows password, each with its own quirks. First one that doesn’t work (there may be others), then one that does:

Changing a password via the User Manager updates the user’s password for future logons in the in the Windows security DB, but does not change the current session’s password in memory, a condition you can verify by locking the workstation from the Windows Security dialog after changing your password and then trying to unlock it: until you log out and log back into Windows, the old password, not the new one, is still in force, and the Notes Single Logon service (NSL) doesn’t get the message that it’s changed.

To make sure NSL gets the message, change your Windows password from the “Change Password” window from the Windows Security (ctrl-alt-delete) dialog box instead. This will update the password in both places – the Windows Security DB and in memory for the current Windows session, sending the signal NSL needs to trap the change and update the password in the Notes ID.

This seems to be a bug. I have several examples of small and very large companies here in the Netherlands that are facing the same problem.Unfortunaly IBM didn’t respond to these issues.

Please post it here, when you find the solution!

Grtz,

Marcel.

Post up more information. Our Network Provider offers no feedback as to why the password setting might have failed. Are you sure the quality of the password was OK.

Subject: that doesn’t sound good!

I’m stumped. I haven’t tried NSL on NT4, only on W2K and XP. Sorry I don’t know more about the network provider interface in NT4…the implementation may be richer, or at least different, on the newer releases of Windows. Good luck! I’ll post if I find out more
