So far, only the members of our I/S department have been upgraded to Notes 6, but we are hoping to upgrade the rest of the facility soon. Our server version is 6.0.1 on iSeries and our client version is 6.0.1 on Win2K.
My possible show stopper is this: Users receive a notification of new mail whether by the pop-up box or sound but do not see the new mail message in the Inbox. (Some have assumed that they are invitation responses not set to appear in the Inbox and don’t perform any further checks.) After they are contacted by unhappy team members who haven’t gotten a response to their message, they press the F9 key to refresh the Inbox but STILL do not see any new mail. If they use the keyboard shortcut ‘Ctrl-Home’ their new messages (sometimes quite a few) are finally displayed.
Some answers to anticipated questions:
Automatically refresh Inbox is enabled in the User Preferences.
The user does not have a message at the bottom of a multi-page Inbox selected, they are close to or at the top of their perceived list.
The location documents contain the correct information.
This was not a problem when we originally upgraded our department’s client/template, or if it was we did not notice.
We have our new mail sequence set to 2 minutes and our team does not use the F9 key to refresh the Inbox like we did with R5. We are patiently waiting for our new mail notifications and hoping they are correct.
In my opinion, delete the newmailseqnum is not an acceptable answer, it is a short term work around. Before I can consider upgrading the rest of our facility, I need to be able to provide answers to why this is happening and how it can be fixed.
As a side note, our department is also seeing a decrease in the number of Alarm pop-ups for repeating, non-repeating, old, and sometimes new enabled entries. I don’t know if these 2 could be related, but felt it was worth a mention just in case.
This is my second post for this issue.
