The “display an icon in the system tray” item is checked in preferences. New mail comes in. The icon is not displayed. This was working and now has stopped. I have not been able to determined what changed to caused this to stop working. 8.5.1 FP1 client on XP SP3 32-bit. The same Notes release works properly on my 7 64 bit system. I’m aware of SPR ID MSUH7J6DYX, APAR LO46631 and technote 1326712 but the symptoms there are different.
My scenario: Notes in background NOT on inbox tab. Mail comes in. No icon in tray. Popup works but is unacceptable as it is disruptive. Sound works but is unacceptable is I have sound off most of the time due to ads on various sites.
I tried some forum suggestions relating to removing the NewMailSeqNum entries from ini but that didn’t change anything.
A debug trace with ini entries below shows reproduction of the problem.
