New Hardware w/ no partitions

We are getting ready to move all of our Domino servers to new hardware. We currently have all Domino servers using Domino Partitions. We want our new hardware to not have Domino partitions, as each new Domino server will have it’s own hardware. If we want to keep our existing notes.ini file and move existing data to the new servers, what do we need to do so that the new hardware is not running Domino partitions? Many thanks!

The notes.ini has no relation to a server being partitioned. That’s stored in another file. If you want to use the same notes.ini without making any changes just give the new hardware the same IP address, and install Domino and its data directory to the same path as the server was installed previously.

The notes.ini line that binds a Domino server to a particular address is TCPIP_TcpIpAddress. If you remove that then Domino will use the default IP of the server. There are a couple of lines that point to the data directory, you can edit those manually if you choose to install the data directory to a different path.

Thank you. What about the PartitionNumber=1 and PartitionNumber-2 line in the notes.ini? So you’re saying that there is nothing I need to do to the .ini to disable the partition so that the new server is not partitioned? I guess I don’t understand how the server knows it is a partitioned server then. I just want to be clear on my steps. I really appreciate your further input.

Was this originally a R4 server? Starting with R5 the partition= stuff was replaced with TCPIP_TcpIpAddress format, and Domino creates a separate file where it stores partition information.
