Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to try the final release build of DAMO 7.0.2. I’m currently running 7.0.1 and want to understand whether it’s worth upgrading.
Any comments from anyone using 7.0.2 - Is it recommended?
Final question - do I have to uninstall and start again with 7.0.2, or is there a painless way to upgrade an existing installation?
Well, despite no response from anyone, I pressed ahead with an upgrade from 7.0.1 to 7.0.2.
When I fired up the installer, it detected an existing installation and asked if I wanted to upgrade. I clicked yes, and after a period of updating files and configuration, DAMO prompted a reboot. (The installer warned me that some new features would not be available if I didn’t start from scratch - I figured this may be for older DAMO users. Mike R - can you comment?)
Following the reboot, I fired up Outlook and all seems to be running well. I’ll try to report back on my experiences - specifically whether the following still happen:
DAMO upon Outlook startup suddenly decides to re-initialise the .PST file effectively triggering a catastrophic (for me) chain of events.
Meeting arrangements with multiple attendees gaining mystery repeats of invitees in the “Optional” invitee field.
Seldom occurs, but emails don’t make it through to DAMO although I can see them clearly in Lotus Notes. (1 in 200 emails)
Items I move out of my Inbox frequently don’t get replicated at the server end. (If I fire up Lotus Notes, the files are still in my inbox!). This is resulting in Notes having a .nsf file of 130Mb, whilst my .PST file is only 26Mb. IT here give me a hard time as a result!
Keep up the hard work Team DAMO. I only hope that your relative quietness on the forum is because you are working hard making DAMO even better!
I have DAMO 7.0.2 installed with the same version of Notes client. Platform Windows 2000. I sent a mail to my internet account with richtext body. The body still shows as attachment when I open the mail from internet. Same thing happens to the current Exchange users. Is this still an issue?
I’m still using 7.0.2 and in comparison with previous versions, it is an accomplished and much more stable product. I no longer worry if something will work and have confidence to perform my daily functions without thinking of DAMO.
Niggles still remain as my previous post indicates (IBM have yet to bother with a response), but for now I could almost recommend this product to my work colleagues.
If only the DAMO team were more “visible” to the forum, I’m sure more people would take the jump and try this great product.
