It takes 13 hours to resync and by the time I get to issue a tell daosmgr prune 30, it is already out of sync.

We have fixed several problems with sync in 8.51
I think the best way to approach this is to run
tell daosmgr dbsummary
especially when you first notice that it has gone into “needs resync”
This will tell you specifically which database is out of sync and then we can figure out why.
The leading “culprits” in 8.5 are mail.box and some compact operations. If it is a particular file causing the problem fixup (-j) will typically fix it
We would be interested in understanding the pathology of this problem, especially (a) you have addins which might be affecting this, (b) if it is triggered by some activity (e.g. compact ) or (c) happens to the same file.
We agree that this needs to be easier to diagnose and correct (for example, synching only the one db that is having problems)
