Hello! We have two Sametime 8.5.2 entry servers in other domains.
They are crosscertified. How can we connect them? I cant find any settings in stcenter\admin ...
They say that everything was ok on previous version 8.0.2 version.
Sorry for so ancient version :)
This is done with server documents in names.nsf - you need to add a server document for the server in the other domain, marked as a Sametime server. This will tell the individual Community server(s) that they need to reach out to the other. Both names.nsf need to have server docs for the 'other' server.
As well as make sure port 1516 is open between them.
In addition to what Tony said, there are a few requirements.
Both Sametime servers must use the same type of directory (LDAP or Domino NAB). The servers also must have access to the same list of users whether that is LDAP or NAB.
If you are using a NAB, I recommend you set up directory assistance (DA) on both servers and replicate the names.nsf over so that each server maintains the same list of users (they will be found using DA).
If you are using LDAP, you can add a second LDAP document in the stconfig.nsf database for the second LDAP server.
The servers will connect to each other over port 1516 once their server documents are found with the "Is this a Sametime server" field set to yes. This server discovery step happens when Domino is started, so after you get the other server document over to each individual server you must restart Domino.
Hello again! Thank you for your answers.
So I've added servers to names.nsf of another domains. I have telnet connectivity over 1516. I have connection documents sametime type on both names.nsf. But no result :(
And one more question. After upgrade to 8.5.2 entry users cant send screen capture - no icon in chat window...
If you do a netstat, do you see a connection established between them?
YOu can also check 'CommunityConfig.txt' and 'Sametime...log' files to see if they are trying to communicate and/or if they see each other in the configuration
As for ScreenCapture - that is disabled for Entry - it requires a Full license.
Hello! I cant find CommunityConfig.txt on both servers...
It will be located under Program Files\Domino\trace
I'm thinking that CommunityConfig.txt may have been added in V9 - if its not in domino/trace , then review sametime.log for details.
Hello! Thank You again for your answers. I found communityconfig.txt and I see clustermates in it.
Then I check sametime.log
09/Apr/21, 08:12:46 Connection broken to server 10.159.248.72, reason 0x80000200
09/Apr/21, 08:12:46 Logged out from server 10.159.248.72, reason 0x80000200.
So I've changed VP_SECURITY_LEVEL from 25( i dont know why it was 25) to 0
And !!!
09/Apr/21, 08:18:45 Logged in to server 10.159.248.72
It's working!
Thank You very much for your support!
The last question - is there workaround :) to enable screen capture. My users crying without it.
It may be your policy. Are you using Sametime limited? With Sametime limited, the license does not cover screen capture. This feature will be disabled in the policy by default on 8.5.2 Limited Use.
Detail is in this KB which applies to the older versions too: https://support.hcltechsw.com/csm?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0068613
