MS Outlook Clients for Domino

Hi All,We are in the process of changing our e-mail system to Lotus Domino. Since we are using MS Outlook client for the users and since the users are used to the Outlook client, we thought of gradually changing from Outlook to Notes Client(iNotes) within a month or two. Is it possible to have the same Outlook client after migrating to Domino? If so How?

Thanks in Advance,

Buwaneka

Subject: Take a look at IBM Lotus Domino Access for MS Outlook

formerly known as iNotes Access for Outlook. It enables your Outlook users to work on the Domino server. There are some limits, at least in ND6.0.2 there were. Not everything maps 100% ok, stuff like rescheduling repeating events etcetera may not work.

Microsoft also has a connector for this, but I haven’t seen that in action.

When you create your users in Domino, specify that the user is an “IMAP Mail” user.

If you have already created the Domino user’s and their mail, simply type:

load convert -m mail*

Which will prepare the mail databases for IMAP access

At the Domino server console, load the IMAP service “Load IMAP”, or better yet create a program document in the Domino Directory to start the IMAP service when the Domino server starts.

In the Outlook client, add a new IMAP account that has the Domino server as the service provider.

When the user switches over to the Notes client later on, all of their mail will still be in the database, and you can simply scrap the Outlook installation.

Mat.

Hi,

Mat is right about the access to Domino fra Outlook. Though the switch -m has been changed to -e for Domino 6 in the “load convert” routine.

B/R and godd luck with Domino!
