OK.For some reason, I have been upgraded it seems to use MS Excel 2003 SP3.
Also, I am using Lotus Notes. Sometimes, I like to export from notes. I was using the nice wk3 format to export from Lotus Notes.
This format is good for exports until now:
It gives me a nicely formatted Excel spreadsheet, (i thought) even the dates were formatted nicely, showing the actual date instead of ##/##/##.
But…now with MS Excel SP3, opening the wk3 file is giving an error like “You are attempting to open a file type that is blocked by your registry policy setting.”.
Does anyone else have MS Excel 2003 SP3 and get the same problem, my colleague he has SP2 and is not getting this error.

We have upgraded to MS Office 2007 which is even worse. I haven’t found a way to even get as far as you have.
If it’s just a few records and a relatively flat view, I have started using Copy Selected as Table and pasting into Excel. Works pretty good with just a few column adjustments, and even end users like it.
Otherwise, I am using either the Tabular text export (which requires your columns to be as wide as your widest entry or it truncates), or the Comma Separated Value - which last time I tried, was the better of the two to import into Excel.
Good luck!

I may try one of the workarounds they list.

If you haven’t changed your regsitry yet, try these links:

Down near the bottom of the page is the instructions for Excel 2003. I just created the new key and DWORD value in my registry and the .wk4 file I have opened right up in Excel.
Here is the link the last post in that same thread that gives more help:
