I have a script for importing data from AS400 to Lotus Notes which is supposed to be run by means of AGENT but it fails when it is scheduled to run in a particular time. However, if the script is run by clicking a button at the view , the Excel program runs successfully. May I know what’s wrong with my script below? Is there any limitation that Excel import or export can only be processed by clicking in a View of Lotus Notes and not by Scheduled Agent manner?
It seems you have not installed the excel appl on the server where the agent is scheduled run, this causes error since it cannot find appropriate API dlls for intantiating MS Excel object within your code…
try installing excel on the server and try the agent…
I forgot to mention in my statement that I’ve installed ms excel in the server and it works fine if I clicked from my View in the server itself and no response at all if automatic agent is applied. Any idea on this phenomenon?
You might be bumping up against security constraints for the agent. Check the agent security restriction settings first, and then the security restrictions for the ID that was used to sign the agent or the username you have listed in Run On Behalf of. All of these control whether you can create COM objects such as Excel.
why dont you post your error here(can get it from sever console when agent is run or from the logs), that will give us a clear picture of what problem ur are facing…
besides chk Michael’s suggestion and see if it works…
