I’m trying to see if it is possible to move the Users Personal Address Books to the server and remove their local copy. The reason is that my company is requesting two things. 1) To be able to have others read and write in Realtime to others Personal Address books without having to replicate.
- The main reason for this is that when users pull E-Mail from their WAP phones, they can also lookup users from their Personal Address Book.
We are currently running DEAS 6.0 on a Domino 6.5 Server. Supposedly this can be done with DEAS but you have to replicate the address book everytime there is a change. I have not been able to get the users Local address book to show on their WAP phones. I need simplicity for the users.
Thanks in advance,

We are running the same DEAS & Domino. The only way our users can see their personal address book is if they synchronize it from the client. The phones do not show the public or private address books but it does search both.I believe you can write an agent to automate the synchronization on a schedule. Having the address books on the server will not allow the phones to view without the sync.

Hello Mike.
When we try to search from the address books we do not get our Personal Address book entries, only from the public address book. When we synchronize the personal address book that only helps us to see it in iNotes. My big problem here is that with the install of DEAS we did not get the Mobile Tab in the Person Docs. I’ve tried reloading and also repairing the install with no luck. I have created a test server and it works fine. Can’t figure out why it does not work on my production environment.

Hi Dan,I’m not sure why that happened. I will try and look at my install logs to see what I may have done different and forgotten about.

I agree with Mike’s response, you should be able to access your personal contacts from a DEAS session on a WAP device if you’ve sync’d the personal address book with the iNotes template.
That said, we had a number of issues when we first set things up here, and I ended up totally deleting the address book for my DEA server, creating a fresh replica, replacing design and then reinstalling DEA.
Suddenly, eveything worked.
If you’re missing those special mobile views, tabs, etc., then it’s not going to work.

In the Mobile tab of your Person document in the NAB, specify the name and location of your mail database as being the name and location of your addressbook.
If you do this you can select which addressbok you want to search - using yor phone.
If you select private then DEAS reads your iNotes contacts stored in your mailfile.
That is so coool !
