Trying to use the Move Database utility to migrate users from a 6.5.6 Domino server to a new 8.0.2 Domino server. Servers are in different domains and are cross certified. At first I did not think this utility would work between domains. However, it is creating a replica on the target (8.0.2) server from the 6.5.6. AdminP actions.
AdminP gets as far as “Adding new mail fields” to the person doc on the 6.5.6 server indicating the new 8.0.2 server. But when the test 6.5.6. client logs in the person’s location settings are not being updated to reflect the new mail file location on the 8.0.2 server.
So close, yet so far. Is there any way to get the AdminP request to finish up the job by pointing the user’s location to the new mail file ?
I did it that way, which I found google-ing for domain user move or something like that:
Step 1: If you will use the same Notes ID across domains, copy the person document from the current domain to the target domain, and change the mail server and file fields only
Step 2: If you use different IDs, then register the user, but elect NOT to create the mail file
Step 3: If necessary, modify the ACL of the current mail file so both servers have manager access, and all versions of the user’s ID have manager access
Step 4: Replicate user mail file from server A to server B
Step 5: If there is no scheduled replication between he two servers, then set up a scheduled replication for this file
Step 6: Modify teh old person doc, setting up a forwarding address (user name@new domain)
Step 7: Replicate the two directories as necessary, so that the updated iformation is available to each server
Step 8: Modify person’s location document(s) to point to new server/file
Step 9: If there is a new ID file, copy it to the user workstation, and switch to that ID
Step 10: When the move has been confirmed as working, you can terminate the user from the first domain.
