Move Lotus Notes from Windows to AIX

Hi,

what is the proper file ownership if you move “.nsf” files from Windows to AIX?

I Move/copy all the *.nsf files from Windows to AIX and do chown -R notes.notes /domino/data…

-rw-r----- 2 notes notes mail\dnotes.nsf

-rw-r----- 2 notes notes mail\jdoe.nsf

-rw-r–r-- 1 notes notes mail.box

-rw-rw-rw- 1 notes notes names.nsf

-rw-rw-rw- 1 notes notes certlog.nsf

-rw-rw-rw- 1 notes notes admin4.nsf

-rw-r–r-- 1 notes notes log.nsf

what is the command to properly set the ownership? And what is the right .nsf file ownership for MAILS and Domino directory databases and files?

Even though i already did:

chown -R notes.notes \domino\data

But still i got this error:

05/22/2008 20:34:56 RnRMgr: Error encountered while scanning database mail/dnotes.nsf for events: This database is currently in use by another person or process, and cannot be accessed at this time. In order to share a Notes database, it must be accessed via a Domino Server by all users of the database.

ND8.0.1

AIX 5.3

Please advice,

Thanks

Subject: RE: Move Lotus Notes from Windows to AIX

Hi Anthony,

It would seem as thought you have properly utilized the UNIX shell command ‘chmod’ to recursively set the UID and GID of files and directories beneath he /domino/data directory.

Per the two example NSF’s that you provided errors for, you have set read and write permission for the UID notes, and read permission for any UID that is a member of the GID notes.

Suffice it to say, if Domino is throwing an error on the database, it has read access to the file in question.

Please confirm the following:

  1. Are you seeing these errors for all the databases that you provided an example of?

  2. Can you confirm via your logs that there are no Domino tasks running against the affected databases?

  3. Do you have any third-party applications on your server, such as spam filter(s) or antivirus solutions?

  4. What UID and GID have you configured Domino to run as?

Thanks!
