More than One mail domain

We have 2 domains witch ppl can send email to us. One of the domain will in near future get inactive. So all mail sent to that domain will not arrive to us.

Is there any way to log how many mails we get to this domain?

That way we can contact all the ppl, that has that old domain.

Anyone have any idea how to log this?

Richard,

1st thing you can do is setup basic reporting in the report.nsf.

2nd thing you can do is create an agent on the mailboxes or somewhere else informing clients of the mail change.

hope this helpes…

Hi Ron,

I will check out the report.nsf

Today all users can recive mails on both domains. No problem there. The problem will occur when one of our domains will closedown. Thats why I would like to see a log of how many mails arrives to that domain.

Thx for all your answears…

richard,

You can never foresee the mail still coming to the old domain. If that old domain inform his customers that email is changing to a new one.

Closing down one domain will not say that you can’t receive mail anymore. If you adjust your dns to accept mail and route the ‘old’ mail to the new domain? isn’t that an option?

or you could create a mail-in database where you route the “old” mail to in the new domain. From there you can check those emails.

My suggestion is to adapt dns to accept also the new domain.

If so, you could modify your Global Domain in the surviving domain’s PAB to allow the old DNS names… and add the old email addresses as aliases (in the User Name Field) to their person docs in this domain.
