I currently have Domino 7.0.3 running on some older pseries machines with AIX 5.3. I have new pseries hardware and will be using AIX 6.1 64bit. I’d like to migrate the 7.0.3 domino servers to this environment and upgrade the server to 8.5 at the same time. Is there any pointers out there on where I should look? I’ve looked at upgrade guides but those all seem to be if your upgrading the software.
Thanks,
Andrew
Subject: Migrate Existing Version 7.0.3 to new hardware
I would migrate the existing running setup to new hardware and observe for a week or 15 days. Once you have confidence on new hardware go for Domino upgarde
Subject: Suggestion
Since 8.5FP1 is so close to shipping - July Time Frame… I would wait for that to be available… I would also do the Domino Upgrade on the Existing Hardware an let it run for a week… At that point bring down the Domino Server and ftp everything over to the new machine… Always easier of you keep same data directory and transactional log directories… Once everything is copied over rerun the 8.5FP1 Domino Installer and you you should be good to go… (Obviously you’ll need to move the IP Addresses or update your DNS… We usually keep the same IP address to keep things simple.)
