Migrate from Sametime 8 to Sametime 12

I'm upgrading an organization from Domino and Sametime 8.x to Domino and Sametime 12.x. The Domino upgrade is mostly complete. But, starting on the Sametime upgrade, I note in the Sametime 12.x documentation that user data has to be migrated from vpuserinfo.nsf to MongoDB. The documentation setting forth the migration steps starts out by referring to migration from Sametime 9.x, 10.x and 11.x.

My question: Can I assume that the instructions will also work for a migration from 8.x? Or should I upgrade to Sametime 9/10/11 first, then migrate to 12?

Hi Rob -

The same instructions will work for migration to Sametime 12. The only thing I am not 100% sure of is if the JVM that is included with Sametime 8 will work with the migration utility itself. If you upgraded Sametime itself to V11.6, that would eliminate any potential issues.
