Hi! thanks for answer, my problem is that I’ve never done this before, could you pls gimme an idea of how should I begin? How do I configure partitions, File System, etc that needs to be done before the installation of Domino? Also, how do I move mail & apps db’s?
Tnx!
Rafa

Hi again,
I believe you can get a few examples on the administration help Db.
You can install the server on solaris (I don’t remember the patches necessary to install, and this is very important!!!)
After install you copy the domino directory (names.nsf) and server.id to /local/notesdata. Than you run the configuration part (/opt/lotus/bin/server) as usual, and confires the server, using the same server name. when the configuration finnishes, you can copy all the data files and mailboes as well. Don’t copy the full text directories (‘*.ft’), let the server rebuild them from scratch. Don’t forget to copy the files as BINARY.
Don’t forget to fix the owner for the files, this is very important on Solaris. Also TCPIP should be fixed for the server and clients recognize the new server with no problems.
I hope this can help. This is only one idea, you have other options to do the same job.
IF you need more information, let me know more details, like the old OS, how can both servers communicate, and so on.

Daniel

Hi again!
Could you please provide me with a reference on how do I have to setup File Systems, swap, partitions, etc on Solaris before the installation? I'm not familiar with this, I'm supposed to base the configuration on Solaris with the current server but don't know how to do this.. thanks in advance for your help again!

Hi Rafa,
This is quite a lot of job to do here…
How many disks you have, sizes, partitions, and so on.
Let’s say… fdisk /dev/“disk” will give you the way to create, remove or modify partitions, and give them a file system type.
than, mkfs /dev/“disk” will create the file system. In DOS or Windows, this is like format.
Than /etc/fstab will mount give the mount point.
You should do this 3 steps for every ile system you are going to use. But you need some experience to know how to do this.
I believe you need someone with you to do this for the first time. I can’t help here from the forum…
But if you want to try, let me know more details like what do you have today, and where are you going. How many disks, controllers, ans so on.
