Migrate and upgrade Domino 7 Windows to Domino 8.5 SUSE Linux

Hello,We are planning on migrating our 25-odd Domino servers (R7) away from Windows O/S onto SUSE (SLES) 64-bit Linux platform running Domino R8.5 and consolidating the servers onto 6 hi-availability SLES servers using DPARS.

We would be very much interested in contacting anyone who have or are:

  1. Migrated/Migrating a similar number of Domino servers from Domino 7 to Domino 8.x for x-series Linux, or from Windows to a 64-bit Linux O/S at the same time. The Domino 8 servers will be running multiple DPARs on the Linux host servers.

and another, or the same site:

  1. Migrated/Migrating a similar number of Domino servers from Domino 7 to Domino 8 x-series Linux, and at the same time from Win2k3 to a 64-bit Linux O/S. The Domino 8 servers are configured as multiple Domino partitions (DPARS) on the Linux host servers.

Obviously it is unlikely anyone would have identical an experiance but anything close will help at this point.

We are interested to learn what was your experience was, what pitfalls etc…

We are also soon to be purchasing some test servers so are equally intrested in joining in discussion with others who may be at this stage.

I have contacted our IBM account manager who was unable to refer any sites, which I find a bit strange.

THANKS

Steve

Subject: Opposite

I did the opposite. 6.5 to 8.x from Linux to Windows. Around 14 servers. Hub, Exchange Connector, Sametime, BES, etc.

I don’t have that many experience in advanced Linux but I’ve made several migrations and changing OS’s. Not very complicated. You just to follow some rules…and have time to let the maintenance tasks finish.

Subject: Steps

Hi i think this website will help you, how to migrate your domino servers.

I hope this helps.
