Message Tracking not working

Since the domino upgrade from 5.0.9 to 6.0.1 message tracking has not worked.

The MT Collector starts, we have reports and mtstore.nsf databases setup and message tracking enabled in configuration document correctly. In the notes.ini MTEnabled swaps between 1 and 0

Under the Mail Routing Events we get the error message:

“Router: Message Tracking initialization error: Router: Message Tracking collector failed to start.”

When I try to run a mail trace I get the error “Message Tracking is not available on this server.”

Paula,

I think you can try this:

bring the server down, rename (or move) the mtstore.nsf. Backup your notes.ini and remove all the settings for message tracking from your notes.ini. Start the server and turn it on the the configuration document (if it was already on turn it off and on).

Hope this will help.

I had a similar issue with my message tracking after moving hardware. It did not suffice to just move the mtstore.nsf. There were other files in the directory. Once I moved/removed them and disabled and enabled message tracking, it is now working again.

Which files did you need to move in addition to mtstore?

And by moving or deleting this database do you lose data you need or is mtstore just a temporary store for mail tracking data?

After upgrading to 6.0.3 from 5.0.11 I’ve had trouble keeping message tracking working. I finally seem to have solved the problem by putting task MTC in the notes.ini file in the server tasks launched at startup. I put this well ahead of the router task. Now the message in the Notes log saying that message tracking failed to start has disappeared and I am collecting message tracking info again. Maybe this will help someone…Daryl A.
