Last week we had many users who were getting warnings about their ID’s going to be expired. Because we had several hundred of these we decided to do a mass recertify ID by going into the administrator, going to the person and hitting recertify under people.
The problem now is that half of them worked. We assumed that the next time a person would log in it would grab their latest ID from the server and bring it down to their local computer, but it isn’t. Their local ID file still have the old date on it while their ID file in the address book has the correct date.
All of our users use the Notes Client, either being it on Citrix or on their local machines. Most users are on version 6.5.1 and some being on 6.5.2.
Is there some option we need to choose in order for this to copy down? We don’t really feel like going through hundreds of “MY ID is attached…” emails. Is there anything we can do?

we removed the id’s in the person documents for security reasons. when i did the last mass recertify (about 300 users) it worked fine.
btw. it can’t hurt anything to recertify everyone all over again.

The ID’s have been removed from the address book sorry. The only thing we were trying to merge down to their local copy is the expiration date on their ID.
Is there any log that tells us whether or not the date has successfully changed on their ID’s? When we look in the administrator log, we can see that the administrative process has started, but there’s no way of determining whether or not the ID’s have successfully been updated on the users machine.
Question for you Raymond: How did you do the mass update? Just go into administrator and recertify?

yep, just selected all my users and chose re-certify.

For the mass recertifications that I do; the users ID file is stored locally also. After the process has gone through, typically about 15 - 20 mins afterwards, I then instruct my users to open a database that is located directly on the server. Connecting to the Domino server then forces down the new expiration date. A message actually shows in the status bar of Notes that “the hierarchial certificates in your ID file have been updated with new expiration dates”. The next time they log in, they should not receive the expiration.
However, we are not on Notes 6 yet - getting there soon. It may be different in 6, but thought I would pass this on in case it is helpful.
