In Notes version 6 you were able to mark files for deletion and an red X would appear next to the message. When you want to delete your messages you would select F9 and they would be deleted upon confirmation. In Notes 8, when I push delete then the file is immediatly deleted upon confirmation. I want to mark the mail for deletion prior to deleting them to ensure what I am deleting what I entended to delete. Also, when marking a file for deletion as you read the message and it goes to the next message once you return to the main mail window you do not have any idea of which files you have marked for deletion as there is not a red X showing what you have marked. Is there any way to make the red X appear and not have to delete the messages as you push the delete button. I have started dragging them over to the trash folder.

If using standard client of 8 you need to set the preference to “show check marks in margin for selected document” and you also need to disable the soft deletion on the database property.
If using basic client all you need to do is disable soft deletion.
