Mapping dependencies

.In an effort to better judge the impact of a design change, I’m looking for a tool that maps dependencies.

When considering changes to a field in one place, I would like to be able to find every design element, every block of code where that field is used.

Ideally, it would map down to the individual variables in a piece of JavaScript or LotusScript.

Does anyone know of such a tool?

Your responses much appreciated.

  • Team Studio Analyzer can be used to do this; it’s sort of like Synopsis only it’s significantly more comprehensive, it doesn’t crash with too many elements, and the results are put into a separate database. This database may then be full-text indexed and searched for any whole or partial element accordingly.- It also has a “cross-reference” feature that’s intended to do precisely what you are asking … drag a design element (field, whatever) to the Xref view and tell it to locate everything that refers to that element. In my experience this is an excellent idea that doesn’t always work as expected, though it could be Operator Headspace.

  • Either way, by Xref or by full-text, TS Analyzer does an excellent job of facilitating design search and analysis, imho.

  • Hope this helps…
