Mapi32.dll, Notes or Microsoft?

Does Notes install a new MAPI32.DLL or does it use the Microsoft MAPI32.DLL as a stub and redirect the MAPI calls to its own DLL?

mapi32 is the Microsoft Mail API, I would very much doubt Lotus produce their own or that they would “redirect”.

That is what I thought. Thank You!

Notes CAN provide access to local/server address books and Domino mail transport via MAPI.

Our helpdesk software (a Windows desktop application) monitors a Notes mailbox on the server. When new email arrives, the software converts the message into a help desk ticket and then marks the message as “read”. All via MAPI.

Check technote 1172816 for MAPI support in R5 versus R6.

Unsupported Hack: Copy nwnsp32.dll & mapisvc.inf from the system32 directory of an R5 client to an R6 client to enable MAPI on R6!

If I read that technote correctly, R6 DOES support simple MAPI, correct?

BACKGROUND:

The issue we are having is with a product that we are using for document management. We are unable to initiate the creation of an email, using MAPI, in the users Lotus Notes mail db. It does work if you set up an outlook acct and set that as the default mail client.

I’m in contact with the support people of the product in an attempt to rule out a problem with Notes.
