Mail Routing Topology

We are having issues with our mail router “hanging”. I would like to use the mail routing topology tools in admin to troubleshoot, but when I click “by connections” and “by named networks” I get an error that no topology information is found in names.nsf, run the maps add in task on the server. How do I run this ?

If the ROUTER Task of your Domino Server does not seem to be routing mail, goto the Domino Console and enter the following command:

tell router show queue

This will display a list of the messages sitting in the ‘mail.box’ of your Domino Server including any messages regarding why they are still sitting-there.

One of the most common causes of mail not-being routed by the ROUTER Task are DNS-related issues.

The following TechNote will assist you with interpreting the output from the “tell router show queue” Domino Console command:

From the Domino Console, enter the following command to load the Maps Task:

       load maps

Shortly thereafter, you’ll see the following messages on the Domino Console:

      Maps Extractor: Building Maps profile

Maps Extractor: Maps profile built OK

After you see these messages appear, you’ll be able to view your Mail Routing Topology (by NNN or Connections) via the Lotus Administrator client.
