Mail routing between two different domino domains

Hi, I am trying to enable mail routing between two completely different domino domain with different servers, certifier. However the are connected by same LAN. I am wondering how to achieve this. I have checked the help file and this forum. There are some indication though but not very clear to me. I need a step by step procedure. This is an ideal scenario when a company joins an existing company and they want to enable mail routing. Thanks.

Look in the admin help for "Transferring outbound Internet mail to an SMTP server over Notes routing " and then look at "Creating an SMTP Connection document "

This should give you all the information you require.

Subject: RE: Mail routing between two different domino domains

I have configured as per your instructions and it is working partly. Let me tell you the setup. Both the domain (ITDSL and ITDS) are in same network. ITDSL is Rel 8 server wher as ITDS is Rel 7 server. Both servers are cross certified. Each has configuration doc, foreigh smtp domain doc and smtp connection doc. Each server has hosts file containing other server’s ip address. At the moment, mail is flowing from ITDS (Rel 7) to ITDSL. However, I get error “Unable to replicate with server itds: Unable to find path to server. Check that your network connection is working” on ITDSL’s console. I can ping the server. Any idea what could be the problem. Do I need to change any ACL ?

I have also noticed in ITDS’s console that it is trying to replicate template files (*.ntf) and can’t do it because ACL is not set for this. Why it is trying to replicate ? Before posting this thread for mail routing, I actualy created a global domain doc and non-adjacent doc which I later deleted. Any help will be appreciated. Many thanks.
