Mail not getting through - Hop Count exceeded. what does it mean?

Hi.

I’m getting the most unusual error, so I think. When I’m sending an external mail, i.e gmail to my domino mail I will after a while (5 min) get this error:

Your message

Subject: test external mail

was not delivered to:

“name”/NO/“domain”-EU%“domain”-NO@domain.no

“name” is the recipient and “domain” is the name of our domain.

because:

Error transferring to “ip address”; Maximum hop count exceeded. Message probably in a routing loop.

anyone know the cause of this?

This happens when the delivery results in a loop.The message leaves domino and goes to another host. This host routes the message back to domino.

You need to analyze the routing in domino and in its next hop host.
