Mail from outside received by some, not others

an non-Notes application is sending a report via an email attachment to some of our users in the format: @acme.com

All recipients are on the same mail server.

The person docs are the same.

The database properties of their mail databases are the same as well.

For one of the users, he only gets the report in his email ~50% of the time. The other times a failure notice is sent back to the priginator that reads:

"-Content-Type: message/delivery-status

Reporting-MTA: dns;c030dbs1.C030wfs.com

Received-From-MTA: dns;c030dbs1.C030wfs.com

Arrival-Date: Wed, 1 Nov 2006 09:23:32 -0700

Final-Recipient: rfc822;KJONES@ABC.COM

Action: failed

Status: 5.2.3

Diagnostic-Code: smtp;450 5.2.3 Msg Size greater than allowed by Remote Host

The size it was trying to send was 4.5MB"

At first I thought there was a limitation on incoming attachments but if that’s the case the other users on the same server shouldn’t receive the report either.

any ideas?

Are you enforcing quotas on incoming mail? is there a quota on the user’s mail file that would put him over his limit?

The person’s mail file is currently ~100 MgB.

On the “Files” tab of the Domino administrator:

The “Max Size” column reads: “No limit”

The “Quota” column reads: “5.0 GB”

The “Warning” column reads: “4.5 GB”

The report being sent as an attachment is ~5 MgB

Should I just do a fixup on the mailfile and wait for the next report generation?

well based on your info I don’t think it’s a quota issue but try running compact instead of fixup. Also, check to see if the user has any mail rules based on size of msg.

No mail rules. I’m going to have a restore of the log.nsf done from last month (when the most recent mailing was done) to check for any errors.

In the meantime I’ll run a compact on his mailfile
