Mail Failover In Cluster

I have two domino 6.5.4 servers clustered and seemingly communicating. I have replicas of the users mailboxes on the failover server. If the main server goes down, the notes client automatically opens the replica on the other server. However, when I send mail, and the main server is offline, the outgoing mail just sits in the failover servers mail.box and is not routed to the users replica mail file. Once I bring the main server back on line, the mail.box folder is emptied and routing resumes.

I’m not sure why the failover server will not route with out the primary server. I came a cross an article that mentioned adding into the notes.ini file

MailClusterFailover=1

This did not work either. Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated.

In the server config doc there is a section where this needs to be enabled. I believe it is enabled by default but it may have gotten changed so check it and then issue a “tell router update config” at the console after you’ve saved your changes. You can find the setting on the Router/SMTP > Advanced > Controls tab under Additional Controls —> Cluster Failover

The cluster failover setting? It’s enabled for the last hop only.
