Mail database causes 100% CPU usage

Opening an email database systematically results in 100% CPU usage for a user’s pc. This occurs only on this mail database which is based on the Mail(R6) template. Any pointers as to what could be causing this will be appreciated? Thanks.

Are there an extremely large number of documents in the user’s Inbox?

If so the problem could be that the index update that occurs when accessing the view is the problem, moving messages out of the Inbox and to a folder will mitigate the problem for database opens.

Thanks, Nathan, for your prompt reply. The database contains 1076 documents and uses 68Mb disk space. I even created an empty mail database with the same effect. So I don’t think that’s the issue. I noticed that opening a document based on an R5 template causes no problems at all. But the problem cannot be with the template since it’s used by all other users.

I’m really stumped on this one.

Hello all, same problem for me Windows XP ,Lotus Notes 6.5.4.

Every time that enter in my inbox the cpu goes 100%.

Explorer.exe use all my CPU.

Tried a lot of more used Spyware software but nothing…I’ve also an archive mail with Rel 5. and when I enter on it I have no problem.

It seems that there’re other users with the same problem on March or April

Can you mention which process is consuming the majority of the cpu? Does the db open and you can see documents in the view? Are there background agents in this database?
