Mail.box: is it still necessary to have three of em?

Hello

I’m setting up a new smtp-Server on 85.1 FP1 and saw that all my “older” servers have three mail.box files.

Is this still recommended or necessary? or was that needed in the R8> releases?

Whether you have more than one is determined by a setting in the configuration document.

If the server handles large volumes of mail, more than one mail.box can be beneficial. Here is a link to what they had to say in earlier versions of Domino

Subject: mail.box is a leftover…

Hi,

In domino once you set-up additional mail routing boxes - mail1.box mail2.box the ‘original’ mail.box is defunct.

It would be ‘nice’ if Domino cleaned up after itself when you set the option for 2 or more, but to date I’ve always ended up having to delete them manually.
