We had to shut down our servers this morning for some maint. to our building. When we fired them back up I noticed that all mail messages were being held on our internal mail server. I tried sending email to my google account and it never made it past the internal server. I also tried sending an email to my boss’s internal account and it gets to the server and is then held. We’re running Scanmail 3, and I edited the Notes.ini to take all SMD* out of the server tasks. Our SMTP server is routing mail to the sever, but again it is just held.
Any ideas would be wonderful.

It probably is SMD that is holding the messages. You can’t disable it by just removing the SMD* tasks from ServerTasks=, you need to remove the ExtMgr_Addins= setting for it too.
However, why not enable SMD3 fully, then just release held messages for onward delivery. You should find that mail starts being delivered again.

I removed the reference to SMD files in the server tasks and in the Ext_addin area, and restarted the server. It was routing fine then. I added them back in there and restarted the server and everything works fine.

I’m not quite sure what you are talking about here. How can I see if SMD3 is fully enabled?

first thing I would do is set routerdebug=3 on the notes.ini and then stop and restart the router. This way you will be able to see what is happening with router held on your mail.box.

did you initiate a route command like e.g. “route smtp.gateway.com” to manualy tell the router to send mails to your smtp server ?
