Hello everybody,
I have a user with a Mac R6 client, running against a R5 mail file and server, who is experiencing occassional Notes client crashes when his machine goes into and/or out of sleep mode. The error he is presented with is “NotesCompact has quit unexpectedly”. He is not starting the compact process manually, and server mail files are compacted during the night (he does not replicate), so I’m guessing it’s a file on his local client.
Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Catherine Cassidy

We experienced this issue with one of our users. Did you find out what was causing this? I noticed a fix in 6.01 that resolved an issue with an ND6 Client replicating emails with large attachments causing some problems, but I don’t think this is related. Please post something here if you found anything. Thank you! Duane

I haven’t been able to reproduce it regularly, but I believe our problem has to do with scheduled archiving kicking off when the client is locked and/or the machine has gone into sleep mode. I’m guessing that when the scheduled archiving has completed, the NotesCompact process attempts to run. I haven’t been able to nail down yet whether the problem occurs when the client is locked, or if the machine needs to be in sleep mode to induce the NotesCompact error. When I figure it out, I’ll post what I learned.
Hope this helps!
