LotusScript Generated Calendar Invites to External Addresses

Hi

Has anyone managed to get an agent within an applicantion to send out calendar invites to external e-mail addresses?

I’m trying to send invites to Exchange users and so far I’ve created code that can send an ICS file out to the user, but that’s no good as I’ve been asked to create a normal invitation as a pose to a file which must be opened.

I’ve been working with an agent that creates a calendar invite, it works inside the Domino domain, but doesn’t trigger the SMTP server into changing the invite to an ICS file that Exchange can read. (I’m led to believe the conversion happens with the SMPT service at least - I might be wrong)

If I send the mail from my Notes client - it does work - an ICS file is created and the Exchange users gets it ok.

If anyone knows what this trigger/required bit of code is or could offer any advice I’d really appreciate it!

Paul.

Yes we have. Just add the correct iCal fields (mostly called iNet ). By default if you ‘invite’ an internet e-mail address to a meeting, then a notice will go out to them. Use this to test what fields SHOULD be added. I think there is some stuff in designer help that tells you about iCal.

Hi

Do you mean this little lot? (Taken from the agent code that I have that creates the ICS file and e-mails that on)

Dim sep As String

Let sep = Chr(13) & Chr(10)

txt = |BEGIN:VCALENDAR|

txt = txt & sep & |PRODID:-//Microsoft Corporation//Outlook 11.0 MIMEDIR//ENR|

txt = txt & sep & |VERSION:2.0|

txt = txt & sep & |METHOD:REQUEST|

txt = txt & sep & |BEGIN:VEVENT|

txt = txt & sep & |DTSTART:| & strStart

txt = txt & sep & |DTEND:| & strEnd

txt = txt & sep & |LOCATION:| & ndContext.GetItemValue(FIELD_LOCATION)(0)

txt = txt & sep & |TRANSP:OPAQUE|

txt = txt & sep & |SEQUENCE:0|

txt = txt & sep & |UID:| + ndContext.UniversalID

txt = txt & sep & |DTSTAMP:| & GetDateTime(ndContext, FIELD_DTSTAMP)

txt = txt & sep & |DESCRIPTION:| & ndContext.GetItemValue(FIELD_DESCRIPTION)(0)

txt = txt & sep & |SUMMARY:| & ndContext.GetItemValue(FIELD_SUMMARY)(0)

txt = txt & sep & |PRIORITY:5|

txt = txt & sep & |X-MICROSOFT-CDO-IMPORTANCE:1|

txt = txt & sep & |CLASS:PUBLIC|

txt = txt & sep & |END:VEVENT|

txt = txt & sep & |END:VCALENDAR|

God no!

All you have to do is add the correct fields to the Notes document that you are sending (e.g. iNetPrincipal) and the Notes client mailer task/ router does the rest. This understands that if the ‘Send To’ contains an SMTP e-mail address that this is going to someone who might not be a notes user. The Outlook user should receive a Notice that they can accept. This then puts the meeting details in their calendar …

Ok - I’m on the same track now.

You mention that the Notes client mailer task/router does the job. I’m working on a web agent (sorry should have mentioned) what you says suggests that the server itself won’t perform the conversion - is that correct?

Thanks again - Paul.

Paul,

Did you ever accomplish this? I am in the exact same situation as you were.

Thanks
